If you're looking for a lightweight pushchair for use in towns and cities then the triumph is a safe bet. It's great for public transport and it's tough design means it can stand a lot of use
At just over 5kg the Triumph is light enough for hopping on and off buses and lifting into storage racks one handed. You can also fit it into car boots easily because of the nice compact fold.
Unlike it's slightly cheaper cousin the Maclaren Volo it has multiple recline settings. The lowest setting isn't totally flat which makes it less than ideal for the youngest babies, which is why it's recommended for three months plus.
Manouverability is great, as with all Maclaren Pushchairs, this is due to the slimline small tyres and also the low weight of the stroller. One disadvantage of the low weight is that its prone to tipping back if you hang bags of shopping or other things off the handlebars.
It's worth considering getting buggy weights if this is a worry. Though it's only prone to tip over when baby isn't acting as a counterweight.
Storage wise, there isn't a great deal. Designing a pushchair and keeping the weight down means that lots of frills are excluded to focus on the aim of keeping it as light as possible. There is a small basket underneath the pushchair which can hold a few things. Although when the seat is reclined it's difficult to get at them. This is an inconvenience and not a major issue.
Wheels swivel or they can be locked in place for uneven surfaces. The brake is a minor drawback, “foot operated” is a bit of a stretch. To get it in it's much easier to bend down and operate it with your hand.
The five point harness is very secure, in fact I guarantee no child under the age of three would be able to unclip it!
The harness straps are adjustable which means you can loosen them as your child grows or in winter when big jackets are the order of the day. When I say adjustable, I must admit there's a knack to it, after a few frustrating days you'll realise the easiest way to move them.
One other thing worth mentioning is the durability of these buggies, you can give them a hammering and they'll just keep on going!
The Triumph is basically fulfilling the same role as the Volo but with the addition of a reclining seat.
Folded Size = 19 x 25 x 104cm
Weight = 5.2kg
This is a lovely buggy to move into when baby is big enough ie. 6 months plus. Nice to have a smaller buggy when larger travel systems no longer needed.
Lightweight with an easy, quick folding mechanism, the Maclaren Triumph is great for mums who need something compact and portable.
lightweight, folds up small, one handed folding, has lasted 5 years through 2 children and is in storage waiting to be used again in the next year or so.
We bought this buggy over 4 years ago for our son as a lightweight alternative to the much bigger one we'd bought him when he was a new born. It's lasted right through to the point where he could walk himself and has also served his little sister as well. Four years and 2 kids later it's still going strong and although it's now covered in hundreds of spills and 'accidents' the buggy itself is still in good working order.
I would really recommend this as an excellent lightweight buggy for everyday use. The handles are a good height (as a Dad I often find buggy handles are too low down which hurts your back after a while - I'm not particularly tall either) and it steers easily without much effort. Folds down easily and fits in the boot with ease.
All in all I would buy this again should my wife surprise me with an 'announcement'!.
