Should You Buy The Baby Jogger City Mini Double?

A nice slim Double Pushchair great for twins or baby and toddler. A dream to push and effortless to fold.

The City Mini is surprisingly compact for a double and excels in the Urban environment with great handling and the ability to squeeze through doors and onto public transport. This excellent double comes highly recommended.

Dads' Review

The City Mini Double is suitable from birth, and works well with twins or with a baby and a toddler. The seats can be reclined independently and the excellent hoods also operate independently. This means that whilst baby lies sleeping under the shade of the hood, your toddler can sit upright and enjoy the sights and sounds.

There is a rear parking brake and a 5 point harness which is really simple to adjust. No need to take the seat apart and thread through the back like with some pushchairs.

Fantastic Hoods

The hoods on the City Mini Double are in three sections and can be extended to provide excellent shading. They are so big that you won't need to buy a parasol that blows around in the wind and gets in the way of folding.

The large hood also helps ensure that the older child doesn't pester his or her sleeping sibling.

Peek A Boo Windows

If you want to peek through the hoods there are two windows in each so you can see if your babies are sleeping or generally happy, without having to walk around to the front

Really Great Fold

In case you hadn't already heard, Baby Jogger Strollers are renowned for their amazing folding. They have a patented system that makes every other way of folding seem incredibly laborious.

With the City Mini Double, you unclip two safety clips, then pull two handles in the base of the seats. As if by magic the pushchair folds in half and you're left with an incredibly compact and flat double. The first time you see this in action your jaw will drop at how easy it is.

Free Standing When Folded

The new model is also free-standing when folded which is great. And if you're worried about it unfolding there's a small velcro strap on the bottom to make sure it doesn't.

This makes it easier to store and also means you don't have to lay it on the floor whilst dealing with everything else

Easy To Unfold Too

Unfolding it is also really easy. Gently lift the handle bar and it springs into place and clicks firm.

When folded, it's surprisingly compact for a double. It fits in the boot of a Volkswagon GOlf with room to spare

Slim Enough For Standard Doorways - No Problems

At just 76cm wide this double in nice and slim and you'll be able to surprise everyone as you glide through doors without any fuss. It's also not a problem getting on buses and the like. And if for whatever reason you need to fold it, you are safe in the knowledge that the fold takes about 3 seconds to do!

Accessories?

Accessory wise there isn't much included. Useful items include the raincover and footmuff. A cup holder is also a good idea for demure mums that want to show off their new buggy whilst sipping on their cappucino. There are also compatible carrycots and carseats that can attached with adaptors.

A detachable bumper bar is also a pretty good idea if you want to attach toys to give your children something fun to play with.

Buy The Head Huggers For Newborns

If you intend using the Baby Jogger with newborns the head huggers are an excellent idea. They are nice and cosy and prevent the head from lolling around too much.

Basket Is Hard To Access

One of the only negative points of this double buggy is the basket. It's nice and large but access is tricky, you can only really get to it from the side. Big bags are difficult to get in and out, so the best advice is to use smaller bags.

Thankfully there are storage compartments on the back of each seat which work well for storing a raincover and any other essentials you need to hand.

Final Thoughts

Over the last few years people have discovered how great Baby Joggers pushchairs. The City Mini Double is no exception to the rule. Great for parents that live in towns and cities. Really easy to push and steer, lightweight and easy to fold.

The only minor downside is the difficult to access basket, which is a minotissue and doesn't stop me whole-heartedly recommending this pushchair to Mums and Dads with two children. You won't be disappointed.
