If you've been looking for a pushchair that can you can take across sand, snow or gravel, through woods and anywhere else you want you should consider the Reverse.
The Jane Slalom Reverse is an evolution from the widely acclaimed Slalom Pro. It's suitable from 6 months upto 15kg and is compatible with the Jane carrycots and carseats.
It's brilliant off road and the tubular aluminium frame is strong and durable. Early models had chassis issues but these have now been resolved. The Slalom Reverse includes a 3 position recline, footrest, adjustable handle bar, rear suspension and quick release wheels.
The main difference between the Slalom Pro and the Slalom reverse is the reversible seat. Jane listened to customer feedback and amended the design so that you can now talk to your baby while they're seated in the pushchair. This is a big plus because it helps bonding and studies have shown that it can aid development of your baby.
Plenty of padding on the seat means your baby will be nice and comfortable in the pushchair. There are three recline positions and adjusting with one hand is easy enough.
Turning the seat to face the opposite direction is also nice and simple. You push two buttons under the seat, lift and then rotate before slotting back into the respective holes. A gate opening bumper bar is also built into the seat which gives your passenger something to hold onto when leaning forward.
Like the Slalom Pro the Slalom Reverse excels on all terrains. It has large air filed tires and good rear suspension. The three wheel setup means that off road bumps don't end up throwing the pushchair from side to side. You can take the Reverse on the beach or through snow without problems.
It's just as handy around the supermarket thanks to the front swivel wheel and smooth rolling wheels.
The adjustable height handlebars make it suitable for parents of different heights which is on lots of peoples wishlists. The handlebars also have a great handbrake. If you live in a hilly town or city you will love this feature, when you're walking downhill this comes in really handy to prevent the pushchair rolling away from you.
An easy to use footbrake is also available when you want to keep the pushchair in one place. With a gentle press of your right foot it's on.
Folding is not the strong point of the reverse. It's easier to fodl with the seat taken out but is relatively bulky. If you've got a small boot you'll probably need to take the wheels, which thanks to the quick release mechanism is nice and easy.
Jane do a good line of carrycots and carseats which can be attached to the Reverse without the need for any fiddly adaptors. The Matrix light, Strata carrycot and Transporter Carrycot are some of the options available to you. The Matrix stands out as being a carseat that can be reclined to become a carrycot, an innovative feature that has proved very popular with parents that have bought it.
The raincover that comes with the reverse is an excellent fuss free design, it has a great window at the front which you can open rather than taking the whole thing off each time you want to get to your baby.
The basket is a reasonable size but could be made bigger. Included with the reverse is a pump and elasticated loops for storage, this is handy for when the tyres are a little deflated and a thoughtful touch.
The Reverse is great for parents that want to take their pushchair on countryside excursions. It's stylish and has a host of useful features and accessories. If you're looking for something compact that you can fold in a hurry this is probably not the right choice.
Size Folded = 87 x 62 x 48cm
Unfolded Size = 82 - 107 x 62 x 113cm
Handle Height = 82 - 107cm
Weight = 10kg
The Jane Slalom R is almost everything I have looked for in a buggy for my two little girls as it's perfect for long walks but still easy enough to push through a busy shopping centre.
If you’re looking for a buggy that feels safe and robust, that can be crammed into the boot and that has the ability to handle all conditions, the Slalom R buggy is worth looking at.
This reversible seat pushchair from Jane is a decent all-round travel system with plenty of features. It's heavy, though (14.7kg), and so big you'll need plenty of room to store it when not in use.
