Maclaren Techno XT
By
If you’re looking for a practical lightweight stroller this is just the ticket. Quick folding and easy to manoeuver, it’s just great value for money.
Practical Design
The design of the Maclaren Techno XT is more focussed on practicality than fashion. So although you may cast the occasional envious glance towards a funky 3 wheeler, you’ll be the one easily negotiating steps and folding up in 2 seconds flat.
When so many mums say it’s the best pushchair they’ve owned it’s worth paying attention. I’ve heard such great feedback about this pushchair and it only ever gets complementary reviews.
Portable Stroller
It’s light and easy to fold, two things which make for a very portable stroller. If you spend much time in and around town you’ll find it perfect for negotiating small aisles in shops. Hopping on and off buses and trains is also nice and easy.
The compact fold means it’s easy to pop into the boot of your car without taking up all of the space.
Visible at Night
Reflective strips are re-assuring if you’re out in the evening. This is one of the thoughtful touches that contribute to this excellent stroller.
Adjustable handles allow it to cater for a range of different heights. Though if you’re under 5’2″ you will find even the lowest setting too high.
Easy to Push and Precise Turns
General manoeuvrability is great, this is really where the pushchair excels. The wheels are large enough to cope with bumpy ground but small enough to make going up and down steps a breeze. You can also lock them in place to make bumpy ground easier to deal with.
The light weight and geometry of the stroller means that turning is really easy and feels precise, rather than spongy like some.
More Plus Points
Other positive aspects of the Techno XT include the easy to apply breaks, the large sun visor, free raincover, comfy padding on the straps and the extendable leg rests.
There are also some nice little elasticated pockets to hold small essentials like your mobile phone.
Any Bad Points
Every pushchair has a weakness, and for the maclaren xt it’s access to the shopping basket. When fully reclined you can’t get to the basket apart from at the sides. It’s not a major problem but inconvenient with a young baby given the amount of time they will be asleep.
I suppose this is one of the compromises you have to consider when choosing a lightweight pushchair.
3 months +
Some mums wouldn’t recommend this pushchair for newborns. The straps are perhaps a little high for very young babies and although it fully reclines, it’s not entirely flat.
If you do decide to use it for a newborn I would recommend the cosy-toes accessory and extra blankets.
Final Thoughts
You wont find a more practical lightweight pushchair than this. Fantastic value for money is how i would summarise the maclaren xt pushchair.
